The Hazard!
The clamp that holds the steer tube in place may break when over-torqued. If the steer tube clamp breaks, the handlebars can come off the bicycle, and the child can fall resulting in minor scrapes and bruising.
What to do...
Stop riding the bicycle until a dealer has inspected the bike and replaced both the steer tube clamp and seat post clamp (they are interchangeable). Contact your Trek dealer to organise a time for the repair.
After the repair is completed you also receive an in-store credit of $30.44 to use toward any Trek or Bontrager merchandise plus a credit towards a bell with a retail value up to $24.35. The credit is good through to 31 December 2019.
