Brake Lights May Stay Illuminated. Potential contamination or component friction in the brake light switch may cause the brake lights to stay illuminated, even when the brake pedal is not pressed.
If the brake lights remain illuminated, it can fail to alert other motorists of the rider's intention and increase the risk of a crash.
What to do...
Customers should contact immediately their authorized BRP Can-Am dealer and schedule an appointment to have the safety recall performed on their vehicle.
If customers need to ride their vehicle before the repair, they will be instructed to verify that brake lights illuminate properly before each ride. The brake lights should be turned off when the brake pedal is released.
BRP will instruct its dealers as follows :
o For MY20 and MY21 Spyder RT, the repair is to replace the brake light switch, adjust the brake light switch and to add a spring to the brake light switch. The procedure should take less than 2 hours.
o For MY20 and MY21 Spyder RT, the repair is to replace the brake light switch, adjust the brake light switch and to add a spring to the brake light switch. The procedure should take less than 2 hours.
o For MY22 and MY23 RT, the repair is to add a spring to the brake light switch. The procedure should take less than an hour.o For MY22 and MY23 Ryker, the repair is to adjust the brake light switch and to add a spring to the brake light switch. The procedure should take less than an hour.
