Exposure to asbestos can result in asbestos related diseases.
What to do...
Schools with affected gauze mats should dispose of any potentially affected mats carefully and safely (wearing a P2 mask and disposable gloves).
If staff are not comfortable handling the gauze mats or if they are fraying /cracking, schools may wish to organise an asbestos removal contractor.
LabwareHouse is contacting all affected schools and laboratories.
