Product Identifiers
The product is a single point cylinder seal inflator installed in life jackets and personal floatation devices (PFDs). The inflator is coloured grey with a yellow lever and yellow tab. See image at (https://www.halkeyroberts.com/).
Affected inflators are marked with the model number: V96000 Halkey Roberts, and have a manufacture date between 4 June 2021 and 15 April 2024 (this will be laser printed in the format MM/DD/YY). These markings can be found on the grey plastic part of the inflator.
These inflators are installed in Hutchwilco brand life jackets / PFDs. Halkey-Roberts understands that the affected Hutchwilco lifejacket models are the Classic V170 Manual and the Super Comfort Z170 Manual
The Hazard!
The indicator status on the inflator may show the life jacket is ready for use (green or partially green) in circumstances where the attached gas cylinder is empty, removed or not connected properly. In these circumstances, the life jacket will not be able to properly inflate when deployed.
There is a risk of injury or accident including drowning if:
- The attached gas cylinder is empty, removed or not connected properly
- The life jacket does not inflate as expected when the manual inflator is deployed
- The user does not otherwise use the manual oral inflation alternative.
What to do...
Check if your life jacket contains the affected inflator. If it does:
- Stop using your life jacket
- Use an alternative life jacket / PFD
- Return the affected life jacket to the place of purchase, together with proof of purchase, for a full refund, or
- Reset the inflator before each use of the affected life jacket, in accordance with the instructions on the Halkey-Roberts website https://www.halkeyroberts.com/
