Replacement product has two distinct markings on of the pin (see image).
Recalled product does not have the two distinct markings.
There is one affected kit on the NZ market and the owner has been contacted by Ohlins racing.
The Hazard!
The pin of the strut may experience too much stress during maximum steering which can lead to fatigue and, potentially, breakage of the pin.
If the pin fails, it will result in the separation of the strut from the vehicle and compromise front wheel control, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
What to do...
If you own one of the recalled struts, please contact your supplier to arrange to receive a new strut and top mount.
If you have sold the strut or the vehicle in which it is installed, please contact Öhlins Racing to provide the details of the new owner.
Ohlins racing has also contacted the owner of the single affected kit that was supplied into the NZ market.
