Potentially affected power supplies supplied with certain My Passport Wireless Pro and SSD products from June 2016 to November 2019 The power supply with model number APP524-051240U, as pictured, is affected: Check your power supply model number if you purchased your Western Digital MyPassport Wireless Pro or SSD between the above dates. The affected power supply was supplied with My Passport Wireless Pro / SSD devices with the following model numbers: WDBP2P0020BBK, WDBVPL0010BBK, WDBSMT0030BBK, WDBSMT0040BBK, WDBAMJ0010BGY, WDBAMJ0020BGY, WDBAMJ2500AGY, and WDBAMJ5000AGY The replacement power supply model APP524-051240U-4 is not affected and is fine to continue using - this has been supplied with models sold after the above dates and is also being provided in this action.
The Hazard!
The power supply is unsafe when used with the adapter for Australia or New Zealand. The hard drive/SSD and USB cables are not affected.
There is a risk of electric shock arising from the exposure of live parts if the power supply is assembled incorrectly.
What to do...
Stop using your power supply (APP524-051240U), turn off at the wall before unplugging and store it somewhere secure.
Contact Western Digital to oragnise a replacement power supply. In the meantime, you can continue to use the hard drive/SSD without the power supply (with the USB cable only).
