The Hazard!
Signify has received three complaints from outside New Zealand, reporting incidents of the product catching fire out of 14,523 units sold globally - fortunately, there have been no reported injuries.
After investigating the issue, it has been found that a high voltage can be generated when the lamp is used beyond its stated lifetime or if there is a leakage lamp - in extreme humidity conditions, arcing on the connection board can occur, which can ignite the product, posing a risk of personal injury.
Potential consequential loss of property and immediate adjacent areas.
What to do...
Stop using immediately, unplug, store and contact the supplier - supplier arrange collection of the unit for disposal and supply of a replacement.
